Summer 2007

Greetings and welcome to our new website!

This site has been created by the Nevada County Land Trust through a grant by the CalFed Bay-Delta Watershed Program.

Some parts of “Help with My Land” are still under construction; please bear with us!

We plan to develop the site to contain resource information for small parcel forest and wild land owners, farmers and ranchers, and anyone who is interested in learning about land conservation, watershed stewardship techniques, and sustainable land use practices.  We hope to be of assistance to anyone who would like to learn about or help with restoration activities.

This website is a community-based program, and depends upon contributions from you to keep items relevant and up to date.  The home base of the site is located in Grass Valley and Nevada City, California, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.  However, much of the information within this site can be applied wherever you live.

We plan to provide you with the newest information on Sustainable Forestry and Agricultural techniques, Water Quality and Wetlands considerations and Restoration opportunities, Fire and Fuels Management, and Land Use Planning, including the benefits of Conservation Easements.  This website intends to have an interactive component, where you will be able to ask questions, provide information, and receive advice.

Individuals, Watershed Groups, Agencies, Neighborhood Associations, Conservation organizations and others are invited to post community events on this website, as the Calendar will be maintained and updated regularly. http://www.helpwithmyland.org/events.htm  Please submit your calendar listings using the Contribute link in the left hand column.

A library of Resource Links will be up and running soon.  Please contact us if you feel you have useful links to contribute.   http://www.helpwithmyland.org/contribute.htm

There is a chance for us to submit studies that have helped you in your land use activities, and also for your neighbors to post and read stories that are of interest.

You will have a chance to volunteer and participate in community service events having to do with restoration efforts or neighbors helping neighbors.  We will be operating a mail list that you can join, and be appraised of new and interesting activities on a monthly basis. To sign up please go to: http://www.helpwithmyland.org/email.htm

Under Stewardship Resources we will post a template developed in this grant for landowners to design and write their own conservation Management Plans.  You will be able to submit and post neighborhood association newsletters and announcements, workshops, invasive plants eradication advice, financial advice for conservation projects, Best Management Practices for forest sustainability techniques, water quality and erosion control, grazing and farming practices, and much more.  Submit your information by going to http://www.helpwithmyland.org/contribute.htm

Our Gallery will feature a slideshow illustrating a step-by-step tutorial on how to write your own Conservation Plan.  We will post your photos of examples of good conservation Practices, and much more. http://www.helpwithmyland.org/album.htm
